He described as worrisome a development where over 75 percent of inmates of the State Prisons are on awaiting trial list, saying that his government is working out measures with the Police expedite preparation of case documents to enable the courts promptly dispatch cases before them.
The governor commended the State Chief Judge, Justice Peter Umeadi for the cordial working relationship his administration has enjoyed with him and the entire state Judiciary in ensuring quality service delivery to the people, adding that it shows that they are in consonance with his administration's stance that the interest of Anambra people supercedes every other.
Congratulating the newly appointed judges, Governor Obiano urged them to be dedicated to their duties and to uphold the honor and integrity of the court in their practice in ensuring that justice is not denied the people.
Responding, one of the judges, Justice Oyeka who expressed delight over their appointment, said they have accepted it as a call to service and will discharge their duties with dedication and commitment to patriotic ideals and passion for the fearless dispensation of justice.
