2017 Anambra Guber Election: Former Governor decries massive decampment of politicians, tags it worrisome

The growing trend of decampment of some politicians and respected personalities in the State has been described as a worrisome trend with dire consequences for the nation's democracy and the integrity and dignity of Ndigbo.
A former Governor of the State, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife stated this in Awka during a press conference with newsmen on political developments in the State and Nigeria.

Dr Ezeife who pointed out that Political Parties are voted into power based on their antecedents in terms of performance, vision and capacity, said if a Party is in power and the populace is suffering, hungry and disillusioned, the only reward they should get is to be voted out and wondered what the justification is, for the decampment especially with the massive impoverishment which Nigerians are facing presently.
According to him, due to the high level of organised electoral theft which some of these parties had executed to wrestle power in recent elections in other states, many desperate politicians in Anambra who do not believe in winning election credibly, are now jumping ship hoping to steal the people's mandate at all cost.
The former Governor who warned that if people of Anambra make the mistake of giving these politicians their mandate to lead them, the entire SouthEast would have lost its only flagship for sustainable development and exemplary leadership and urged the people to vehemently resist the imposition of political parties with strange ideology on them as according to him, these other parties lacked merit and vision.
While further noting that Ndigbo are known for their enterprising nature and their dignity achieved through their constant insistence on merit and industry over mediocrity, Dr Ezeife warned that the people's dignity and respect is presently being threatened by the negative political development in Anambra state.
On the recent statement by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, making a case for Igbo Presidency come 2019, Dr Ezeife harped on the need for Ndigbo to learn how to explore every opportunity they can get to fight their emancipation, especially in view of the injustices and marginalization meted out against them in the country.

He noted that Nigeria is blessed with abundant human and material resources enough to lead Africa and indeed the black nation to economic prosperity, but due to corruption and bad leadership, the nation is still a failed state and said Igbo Presidency remains the answer to country's development question and the clamour in the SouthEast for an independent state.
