Again, Anambra Governor, Obiano urges Federal Govt to show presence in the SouthEast.


Governor Willie Obiano says there is need for increased federal presence in the SouthEast to give Ndigbo a sense of belonging in the country. 
Governor Obiano stated this when he received the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola at the governor's Lodge, Amawbia. 


 The Minister was in the state to inspect ongoing Federal Government projects has been on a tour of the five SouthEast States since mid last week
Speaking after a closed door meeting with the Minister, Governor Obiano who noted that the Southeast geo-political zone is marginalised when it has to do with Federal Government infrastructure, said the development has resulted in the people's loss of confidence in the ability of the government at the center. 
The governor however expressed delight that the Federal government is responding to the Housing issues in the State and is presently clearing the parcel of land his administration provided at Isiagu for construction of Housing units and assured that the state government will consider constructing the road leading to the Housing Project. 
He also thanked the Federal Government for including the Umunya axis of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway in the contract subsisting from Enugu to Awka and urged the Federal government to expedite the process to reimburse the state the 43 billion naira it is owing on road works  to enable his administration tackle the numerous road projects ongoing across the state. 
In his remarks, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Fashola commended the Present administration for its intervention on failed Federal Roads, adding that the Federal government is mindful of its debt and is presently working out modalities for the reimbursement. 
Mr Fashola emphasized that the Federal Government is not in competition with any state administration and is committed to supporting the individual 
 states realize their lofty developmental objectives, stressing the need for the state to work closely with the Ministry's Controllers in the State towards the successful completion of Federal government's projects in the State. 
Some controllers of the Ministry in the State who also spoke after the meeting hailed Governor Obiano for being willing and prompt in meeting the state's obligation for the commencement of Federal projects in the state.
The Minister and other top officials in the Ministry who accompanied him on the visit, immediately headed to site for the second Niger Bridge to inspect ongoing works.
