Anambra Govt commences road inspection.

Inspection of ongoing state government road projects across the state by the State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has commenced.

The inspection visit took the governor to major road construction projects in the Anambra South Senatorial District of the state.

At the 12.5 kilometer Ezira-Umuomaku-Enugu Umuonyia-Achina designed to have a 20 meter one span bridge, clearing and road expansion has been achieved on a 3 kilometer length from Ezira Junction to Erika bridge, Ezira.
Speaking after inspecting the road, Governor Obiano who expressed satisfaction with the extent of work already covered, explained that the inspection was to see what the contractors have done with the money he gave them in November before he will release another batch of funds this month.
He noted that due to paucity of funds, his government is focusing on productive roads leading to areas with prospects for the state's economy and expressed the hope that when completed, the road will open up the agrarian communities of Orumba and Aguata Council Areas.
The Commissioner for Works, Chief Law Chinwuba said the project was awarded to one of the best contractors due to its strategic nature and harped on the need for the people to continue to support the Obiano administration to ensure the completion of the road.
The Deputy Project Manager for the Contracting Firm handling the project, Mr Hossan Kassim said their target is to reach asphalting on the 3kilometers they have cleared by May this year, after which they will commence the construction of the bridge expected to last for six months.
According to him, while the bridge is ongoing, they will commence work from the Achina angle to ensure that the project is completed on schedule.
The Governor later inspected construction work on the 6.3 Ekwulobia -Ezinifite road where earthwork and drainage construction has reached 4.5 kilometers.
Governor Obiano while speaking, said money will be released immediately for asphalting on the 4.5kilometers, adding that the road is important as it leads to the site which his administration gave the Federal Government for the establishment of an industrial park at Akwaihedi.
He appealed to residents of the area especially those whose structures were affected by the construction work, to bear with the government and support the project as it is for their overall benefit.
The Senior Special Assistant to the governor on the physically challenged, Bar. Ezewuzie who is a native of Ezinifite, thanked Governor Obiano for fulfilling his promise to people of the community and said what Ndi Anambra are experiencing under his watch, is visionary leadership leadership.
In their separate remarks, some indigenes of Ezinifite, Mr Ifeanyi Umebinwa and Mrs Comfort Ezeokonkwo narrated their ordeal when the road was bad and  thanked governor Obiano for coming to their rescue, assuring him that they will repay him with their support.

Governor Obiano was during the visit received by stakeholders in the Old Aguata Region as well as school children in the area who sang solidarity songs for him.
