Two undergraduates of Osun State University, UNIOSUN, Osogbo are resently at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, LAUTETH, Osogbo, following the injuries they sustained  from gun shots by some policemen from the headquarters of Zone 11 of the Nigerian Police Force controlling Osun, Oyo and Ondo states.

The students , identified as Kazeem Adesola and Ibrahim Ajao, were said to be playing football yesterday morning at a pitch off-campus around Oke-Baale, Osogbo when the policemen suddenly came in mufti and accused some of the students of  engaging in internet .

According to an eye witness, the policemen were in the habit of harassing UNIOSUN students and extorting them, saying an attempt by the students to resist the harassment led to the shooting.
He narrated “We were playing football when they came. They always come like that to arrest students here. They would say that we are involved in Yahoo-Yahoo and they would seize our laptops and phones. They would collect money on the pretext of bail. But we resisted them on this one. Within a twinkle of an eye, the policemen started shooting. When the policemen started shooting, we ran away but the bullet hit two of us and they were rushed to hospital. A bullet hit one near his stomach and another bullet hit the second one in his mouth”.
Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fimihan Adeoye, who confirmed the incident, said the affected policemen had been arrested and detained.
In his reaction, UNIOSUN VC, Professor Labode Popoola, said the students were exposed to danger because they were living off campus since the institution is non-residential.
